The Company

AO Carbon Coolers is a pioneer in the heavy-duty soft cooling industry. They are based in Corona, California. They claim to have been the first to use Thermoplastic Polyurethane for the lining of their soft-sided coolers.

They have been expanding on the success of their soft coolers over the years to include ice chest and hybrid cooler, which aim to bridge the gap between soft and Everest hard cooler.

What The Brand Has To Offer

What the Brand Has to Offer

AO Coolers differ from other high-quality piece brands and offer consistent performance across all lines. This is thanks to their Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), making all AO Coolers sweatproof and leak-proof.

AO Coolers are guaranteed to never leak or sweat because of the high-quality TPU liner. The inner insulation is 3/4″ thick, high-density, closed-cell foam. This combination creates an amazing AO canvas cooler that will hold ice packs for 24 hours in 120° heat. The soft, cooler exterior won’t scratch your gel coat or tear up any upholstery.

Each cooler is insulated using 3/4″ of closed-cell foam. This is dense enough to keep ice for 24 hours in temperatures below those suitable for cacti.

This table shows how the AO Coolers models differ. It will help you choose the soft-sided cooler that best suits your needs. This will allow you to get started faster with nine different cooler line options.

Get To Know The AO Coolers

Product Introduction

American Outdoors Coolers was founded by outdoor enthusiasts who want quality equipment to withstand a weekend on the lake.

We have already mentioned that AO Coolers use TPU liners to ensure you don’t get a leaky tap instead of an AO canvas cooler.

To prevent moisture from forming on your cooler’s outside, the TPU lining acts as an extra barrier.

This is a great feature to ensure your truck bed doesn’t look like a toddler’s diaper.

To prevent scratches on your car, the AO Coolers’ canvas exterior is made of soft materials. With this durable soft canvas material, the soft, cooler outer layer will not scratch your car seat as you move it around on the beach, boat deck, or mountainside.

The Canvas cooler uses an expansive mouth configuration to make it simple to put beverages or nourishment clinched without having a craving for attempting to get jawbreakers out of a glass jar or jolt.

The AO Cooler Backpack is a unique feature that AO Coolers offers. It is designed to make it easy to carry your chilled deliciousness everywhere. This is only one of many AO soft Cooler lines that can provide a soft cooler solution for any occasion.

We will review AO Coolers and go through each line to see how they build on the high-performance ( high density) features that satisfy your needs.

Popular AO Canvas Coolers are advertised as the first soft-sided that came into the industry. Made of high-quality vinyl, they can perform without concern of leaking or sweating. They have ¾ of an inch thick foam which helps with cooling performance.

All AO Coolers have giant mouths to make it easy to place all your stuff and ice. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3,…

Sure, it may not be as attractive or nice feature-laden as some of the models we tested that can hold ice for upwards of four days, but it’s still a pretty low price for what it brings to the table.

Capacity And Sizes

One of the most significant advantages of being in the industry for so long is that AO Coolers Review has mastered the needs of everyday adventurers and offers various sizes and capacities.

Each series of AO Coolers review is available in multiple capacities, ranging from 12 to 48 can capacities. The popular AO Canvas Cooler keeps things warm as well as cold. Features double the insulation of other soft-sided coolers, a removable shoulder strap, clip-down ends, a side pocket for dry items, and a leak-proof liner. Meets carry-on airplane requirements.

Everest Hard Coolers’ new line includes a powerful 80-quart space, just in case you need it for saving space.

The duffel-style bags all come with a removable shoulder strap for hands-free carrying. The backpack-style cooler has thick padded backpack straps ( removable shoulder strap).

Ice Retention Of AO Cooler Lines

Ice retention is what makes or breaks a soft-sided cooler. The AO Coolers help keep your soft-sided coolers ice-free for 48 hours, provided you don’t bake in the oven.

The AO Cooler line can keep ice frost in place for up to 24 hours if you’re out in hot weather.

If you’re like me and forget to bring the canvas cooler when you unload the vehicle, you will not be carrying puddles.

Although the 24-48 hours range is not as long as the hard coolers or ice chests that can keep your fridge stocked for up to a week, we are still impressed by the soft cooler line’s ability.

AO Cooler’s Warranty

The soft cooler lines are as durable as comparable models and have a build quality that is second to none.

AO Coolers stands behind its best products and customers, despite the excellent build quality canvas cooler.

AO Coolers offers a limited lifetime warranty for the soft-sided cooler liners and the Top Zipper on their soft coolers. These parts of the cooler may fail due to normal wear.

AO Cooler’s customer service is fantastic. They will even repair any damage you may have caused by your attempt to transport flaming petrol over stateliness. You can have your cool cooler maintained for $25.00 if it is damaged.

  • There are only two rules you must follow in AO.
  • You can send it clean. There are no leftovers, fish guts, fishing trips, or cigarette bits, and no mold.
  • The cooler should be dry. The cooler must be dry storage.

Insulation Value

Although it isn’t as large a mouth design as some laminated soft coolers, the AO still has a lot to offer in insulation. It achieved an average performance rating among all models. The bag is protected by a TPU liner that protects the foam and heavy-duty polyester. This bag, according to AO, “is guaranteed” to keep ice retention in 120-degree temperatures for 24 hours.

Our twice the insulation tests didn’t reach 120oF. The AO lasted 55 hours, maintaining USDA-recommended food-safety temperatures of 40o F and less. The cooler kept temperatures below 50oF for eight more hours, which is desirable for many beverages.

Although this may not be as impressive as other AO coolers’ performance under similar conditions, it is still an ice-solid performance for a cooler that isn’t airtight or has a soft waterproof exterior.

Our cooler’s tag claims it is “guaranteed not to leak,” but we think they are referring to the inner lining. The zipper is not a waterproof zipper. The zipper will not stop the AO coolers from leaking if it is tipped on a wet surface or meltwater touches it. The inner lining of the zipper is waterproof zippers so that it doesn’t get tipped.

We are impressed with the insulation of this small cooler. However, it is only available in dark and medium colors. We prefer lighter and many different color options to reflect the heat since this soft cooler will likely be outside exposed to the sun ( direct sunlight). Overall, however, we are pretty satisfied with the insulation performance, which is much better than expected.

A small soft cooler can sometimes hold 6 or 9 cans and will have an incorporated top handle to grab with one hand while walking out the door. These smaller coolers are great value for times when you might want a few drinks while you’re out doing something like bird-watching or sitting on the beach, or they can be used as insulated lunch boxes for the frugal and health-minded meal-prepper.

Ease of Use

It’s straightforward to pack and unpack the AO 24 Pack. It is not as wide as a flip-top, but it can be opened easily by leaving the ends unclipped. It is one large area inside. Although the inner liner may be a little loose, it does not affect its holding of things cold items.

We appreciate the cooler’s flexibility in this area. This flexibility allows us to adapt to whatever we bring, such as extra tall champagne bottles or large potluck dishes. We love watertight zippers, but they can be a pain to manage. The AO’s standard zipper glides over its teeth, while the AO’s top zips are much more flexible.

The heavy-duty cooler can hold 24 cans and 14 lb of ice. It can hold 39 cans if you don’t add ice or anything else and has a 24-quart (23 Liter) capacity. It is a good size.

The AO also features a large outer side pocket that extends the length of the bag from the mid-seam ( or welded seams) at one end to the long side. Although it is not an insulated pocket, we believe this huge option is more beneficial.

The clip-down ends can be rolled down towards the sides to create a compact and easy-to-tote bag. The duffel handles can also be held together by the attached Velcro Bundle. This cooler is easy to use, but the internal liner is difficult to clean and dry faster.

On the other hand, Yeti hopper is a purist brand because they commit to one line of extremely high-end coolers.

In brief, AO coolers exhibit 1000 denier carbon/Vinyl liners and a robust polyurethane UV repellent coat at their peak, while Yeti coolers consistently support their Dryhide shell, which is a high-density fabric, waterproof, and water-resistant to mildew, punctures, and UV rays. Therefore, we must give the quality aspect win to Yeti hands down.
