Before You Begin
Before you start, ensure that you have these items on hand:
If you have a Whirlpool alignment tool or refrigerator and freezer doors leveling feet to assist with this process, you may be able also to use it.
To open the fridge and freezer doors at a 90-degree angle, turn them upside down. Grab the sides of your bottom grill and lift the top grill towards you.
Some models have two leveling feet and two brake feet that prevent the refrigerator from rocking back and forth. Be sure to check the owner’s manual if you don’t necessarily know which feet to adjust.
If you are leveling a side-by-side or freezer-on top model, remove the bracket covers. Use a pencil eraser to insert into the bracket’s notch. Apply downward pressure. To remove the bracket, gently pull it while you apply pressure.
Using a Level
To determine the fridge’s level, place a level on the top. Verify the alignment horizontally and vertically.
How to Level a Whirlpool Side-by-Side Refrigerator
Side-by-side Instead of fixed leveling legs, Whirlpool freezers have leveling bolts. The leveling bolts are accessible from the refrigerator’s front so that you don’t have to move it from their place.
If cabinets are above, make sure there is enough space for them to open.
Lift the base grill with the doors fully open. Move the top of your base grill out of the refrigerator. Place the base grill on its side.
Attach the 1/2 inch socket to the ratchet.
Examine the location of the bolts in the area you have removed the base grille. The leveling bolts are located inside the door hinges. The top bolts adjust the refrigerator’s back, while the bottom bolts adjust the front edges.
With the 1/2-inch hole on the ratchet, you can change how the leveling nuts work. To raise or lower the corner, turn the bolts counter-clockwise.
You will notice the head on the leveling bolt pulling away from the refrigerator’s face when you loosen it. Re-tighten the bolt until it is flush with the fridge. To adjust the refrigerator’s level, switch to the opposite bolt.
Install the base grille after you have leveled your Whirlpool side-by-side. Place the bottom edge of your grill and push it toward the refrigerator. To lock the base grill in place, slide it down.
Ensuring Fridge is Level
To ensure that the freezer and refrigerator doors open and close correctly, open and close them. Turn each brake foot on either side of the refrigerator clockwise to stop it from rocking back and forth.
The Whirlpool leveling instructions suggest that you use a set of shims to find a good position for refrigerators placed on an uneven floor.
Finishing the Project
If necessary, replace the brackets on the bottom grill by putting them back in place. Install the bottom grill by inserting tabs from the sides and bottom into the slots and snapping at the top.

How Do You Lower The Wheels on a Whirlpool Refrigerator?
The legs are located on the opposite side of the refrigerator’s bottom. Adjust the leveling legs by using your fingers. If this is difficult, have someone tip the fridge slightly and use a crescent wrench. To raise the front, rotate the threaded leg counter-clockwise.
Should a Refrigerator Be Level Front to Back?
The refrigerator should be slightly tilted backward. The front of the fridge should be slightly higher than its back. The refrigerator should be tilted to close the front doors automatically when opened to 90 degrees.
What Happens If Your Fridge is Not Level?
The door might not close properly if the unit isn’t level. Warm air could get into the freezer and cause it to work harder to maintain low temperatures. If you need to keep your chest frozen, check underneath for adjustable legs.
