Dacor Refrigerator Review is a brand name for refrigerators, which are known for being high quality. Dacor has been making refrigerators since the 1960s with nothing but innovative new additions. Dacor is a high-quality brand that’s been around since the 60s. They’re best known for their innovative new inventions that have helped them stand out among other brands.
The bottom freezer door can be tough to open. The touch screen is easy to operate, but it is not as straightforward as other touch screens on the market.
The alarm for the freezer is loud and can be challenging to turn off. It has a good amount of storage space, but it is not as efficient as it should be. However, this refrigerator does seem to be built to last. It has excellent features and will meet your needs.
Dacor Appliances Are A Lifestyle of Excellence
When Stan and Florence Joseph founded Dacor, Inc. in 1965, Dacor refrigerators were their first invention. Their first invention was to create an indoor electric barbecue and a ventilation system for kitchens.
The couple’s two sons, Anthony and Michael, joined their parents’ efforts to create a product that would meet the needs of families. Dacor Refrigerators was one such product. They achieved this by their dedication to making great appliances, and they have continued doing so ever since.
Innovation is their middle name.
Dacor’s patented features have been a hallmark of the company over the years. These are just a handful of the industry’s firsts:
- An electric oven that has an infrared gas broiler.
- Pure ConvectionTM distributes heat evenly.
- The Butterfly Bake Element (TM) allows for perfect traditional baking.
Dacor GreatsTM is an extra-large size that allows you to cook with larger pots and pans in more significant quantities.
Dacor’s appliance line includes everything you need to build the kitchen of your dreams. Dacor makes everything you need, including wall ovens, ranges, cooktops, and ranges. They also make microwaves. Dacor refrigerators are where we get excited.
A heating kit isn’t necessary when pairing, using only what’s known as a “Yoda Loop” that requires nothing but a trim kit. Dacor is also the only brand to offer a dual ice maker—each Modernist refrigerator creates both cocktail ice (two times the normal size) or standard crushed ice, each available at the push of a button.
You can order the refrigerator with an internal water dispenser or not. It comes with an internal water filter for the water and ice maker or just the ice maker.
Which Refrigerator is right for you?
Dacor created a limited number of styles and types to make choosing the right refrigerator easier. This concept applies to all Dacor appliances.
Freezer drawers were loose enough that they occasionally fell out onto the floor, and the wobbly crisper drawers lacked adjustable humidity sliders. Only one shelf in this entire appliance is adjustable. If you don’t like the layout of a certain compartment, you’re stuck with it. The thermostat controls operate in increments. The freezer, for instance, can be set to -5, 0, 5, or 10°F.
The fridge setting, however, is much more versatile than the main compartment. You can set it to one of eight temperature increments, ranging from 21°F to 50°F, depending on your culinary needs.
You can see the many styles Dacor uses in each one of these.
- Epicure – A stainless steel set that combines bold elegance with copper, brass, and chrome
- Millennia – This set features black glass panels set into stainless steel, creating an elegant and sleek look.
- Preference – This line has colors we haven’t seen elsewhere (Slate Green, Blue Water, to name just two). These appliances add a touch of whimsy and style all at the same time.
- Integrated – This line is flush mounted and comes with accept custom panels. It offers privacy without compromising your personal space. This line is stunning, but you might not want to share the secret.
The interior pitcher automatically fills a 48 oz. pitcher with filtered water and there is a door alarm to let you know if it’s not quite closed.
This model has a Sabbath mode, but is not Star K certified or ADA compliant and doesn’t accept custom panels. Dacor offers a reasonable warranty with 2 years on parts and labor. They installed an Internal Water Dispenser to provide a continuous supply of cold filtered water.
Different types of Dacor Refrigerators
Dacor’s designers chose to make only three types of refrigerators to simplify buying a refrigerator and ensure that all options would be suitable for your specific needs.
- Dacor Side-by-Side Refrigerators
- Bottom Freezer Refrigerators Dacor (which include French Door Refrigerators)
- Dacor Undercounter Refrigerators are often referred to as wine fridges, but they prefer to refer to as Wine Steward (TM).
These products can be customized to meet your specific needs by being installed as either a Freestanding, Built-in, or Undercounter refrigerator.
- Twin Cooling System: Two independent evaporators protect flavor and aroma for fresher tasting food.
- Automatic Humidity-Controlled Crispers: Maintains consistent humidity levels for long-lasting freshness.
- Power Cool Speeds: The cooling process by quickly lowering the interior’s set temperature after the door has been opened for an extended period of time.
The controls look great but could be more responsive. Some unusual terminology will take some getting used to. Even better, our data shows that this Dacor is very energy efficient—even with the icemaker running.
The non-adjustable crispers also retained a decent amount of moisture over time, making them a good fit for salad lovers. For in-depth performance information, please visit the Science Page.
Excellence is in the Details
We were amazed to see that their refrigerators offer so much more than just a few extra details.
For maximum freshness, there are two crisp drawers and a slide-out drawer with a deli. These drawers offer a temperature/humidity control panel that can be adjusted to ensure everything tastes fresh.
Front-mounted electronic controls make it easy to view exact temperatures in the fridge.
And, unlike most similarly sized models sold in the US, the Dacor DRF36C100SR doesn’t use HFCs as a refrigerant.
That said, this model doesn’t perform all that much better in energy efficiency than the impressive Samsung RF23M8590SG model of a similar size, and the Samsung has a whole host of additional features, including the Family Hub™ system that could help you minimize food waste and eat better overall.

Specialized sensors are placed in the refrigerator and make it sound as if:
- Internal temperature increases
- The water filter must be replaced.
- You can leave the door open for several minutes.
- To ensure a constant supply of cold water, they installed an Internal Water Dispenser.
Dacor included drawer glides in its bottom freezer line. They open quickly and can be used by anyone interested. These freezers have a greater total capacity than others, and food can be kept organized and easily accessible using full wire baskets.
The 36-inch cabinet depth units are ENERGY STAR qualified and include an additional feature called Adaptive defrost. This feature tracks how often your refrigerator door has been used and adjusts its defrost patterns accordingly.
Is Dacor reliable?
Consumer Reports readers identified major kitchen appliances made by high-end brands like Viking, Thermador, and Dacor as the most unreliable brands.
On the outside, the Dacor DTF364SIWS looks very good. Slim, stainless handles, and a futuristic control console help it match other appliances in the Distinctive lineup. You’ve got a control lock, two kinds of ice, and a through-the-door ice and water dispenser. It also includes a vacation mode, as well as a quick chill in both the fridge and freezer for when you need to bring the temperature down quickly.
Though it resembles Samsung’s four-door fridge, it definitely isn’t a copy: Dacor’s fridge is made by Arçelik, one of the largest appliance manufacturers in Europe, whose four-door fridges have been on sale in the rest of the world for years.
