Thermador And Kitchenaid Refrigerator: What Are The Differences?
Thermador and KitchenAid are significant competitors in the refrigeration industry. Both brands offer high-quality and incredibly functional products to suit every need. However, there are specific differences between both companies that you should know about before choosing which brand is best for your kitchen.
Both companies have been around for a very long time, so they indeed must have something up their sleeve to maintain their popularity. We will now compare the two company’s products side by side so that you can make an informed decision when choosing which brand is best for your kitchen.
Thermador has a lot more to offer when it comes to refrigerator features. They are one of the only companies that can fit a range hood into their refrigerators, allowing you to have your ventilation system and refrigerator in one stylish unit.
Thermador range also offers different doors on their refrigerators, which allows for extra customization options such as a double-layered door. They also have more shelves and storage options to choose from than their competitors.
Kitchenaid has fewer features available for their refrigerators than the Thermador range, but they still sport great features such as adjustable shelving, which allows you to customize the layout of your refrigerator.
Today’s refrigerators are much better energy performers than older models. This came about without a scandal and without wasting a billion or two on incentives.
So even a dumb measuring system can make a positive impact in the right direction. Let’s open a new thread to discuss the ideal criteria for an ideal future rating system for refrigerators.
NOTES: Not all features ascribed to a brand are included across all its products and models; this chart is meant to denote which product features are broadly available across these appliance brands as of April 2021. In addition, subsidiary brand Bosch Benchmark is NOT included in this data collection.
There is a significant difference in energy usage between Thermador and KitchenAid. Thermador’s refrigerators are air-cooled using TC-X technology which allows for better temperature control and less energy loss.
On the other hand, KitchenAid uses compressors to cool their refrigerators, but these require more power, so that they will cost you more in the long run.
Thermador Freezer and Fridge would be an understatement. This is a unit that is supposed to be on the same quality level as Sub-Zero and Wolf… IT IS NOT!! The freezer is 50% icemaker.
Meaning that unlike any other, the freezer space is 50% consumed by the Icemaker unit. The ice maker unit is the poorest, worse functioning that I have ever experienced! It clogs almost every time used. It produces ice at such a slow rate. On the other hand, Thermador T24UR920DS provides two refrigerator drawers without a freezer.
They are better at space flexibility, occupying less space than the side-by-side models, and offering more storage space than the top freezer models. They also offer better convenience, allowing you to easily access items from the fridge without having to bend over. Thermador offers a 30-inch width and a 36-inch width bottom freezer models, which can both be installed flush at 84-inch height and 24-inch depth.
Thermador refrigerators offer a lot more flexibility in configuration than KitchenAid. Thermador’s French door refrigerators are available in 3 different configurations, which makes your storage options almost limitless.
On the other hand, Kitchenaid models only offer two significant configurations for their refrigerators, meaning that there is little room to customize and modify your refrigerator according to your needs.
Thermador refrigerators can fit in a lot more cubic feet than KitchenAid. Depending on which model you choose, Thermador can offer you up to 34% more storage space than their competitors.
Kitchenaid models have a less flexible configuration, meaning they have reduced dimensions compared to Thermador’s refrigerators but still have enough room to fit perfectly in any kitchen.
Thermador refrigerators are on the more expensive end of the scale when it comes to price. Still, if you consider how much they offer compared to KitchenAid, Thermador is a lot cheaper. For a comparable model by each company, Thermador will always be cheaper.
Kitchenaid has a wide variety of very competitively priced products in the market, but Thermador still offers you more for your money.
However, KitchenAid is much less expensive than Thermador, and they also provide excellent customer service with their appliances, making them one of the most recommended brands around.
The price once again depends on if you are buying Thermador cooking for the rebate. Then again, this comparison can rely on one other variable.
The size of Thermador refrigerators is very comparable to KitchenAid, but in some cases, they can even be more extensive. Thermador’s refrigerators all come with a storage capacity greater than 20 cubic feet, which is quite impressive.
Size really should not influence your decision when choosing your new refrigerator, but it might make the process a little easier. If you are having a hard time choosing between the two, this information might help make your decision easier.
Is Thermador a reliable brand?
Thermador is a very reliable brand. Thermador was founded in 1912, and they have over 100 years’ worth of experience in the appliance business, which has allowed them to stay relevant and maintain their popularity.
They are one of the best brands for home kitchen appliances and offer excellent customer service and high-quality products, making them very trustworthy.
However, in May 2019 (less than 5 years of service), the temperature sensor for the ice maker went out and had to be replaced ($420.00). Then it was determined that it was not the problem. It would have cost me another $500 to figure out what it was so I decided not to fix it.
You can see the better products here. The ones I’m talking about are made in Turkey, I believe by Bosch/Thermador. They also make the Miele units. It’s funny though o was just thinking they’re so bad I wish people would just get the cheap Frigidaire.
In the past, Bosch products spanned the value range, today Bosch offers a product that is comparable to the other affordable luxury brands on this list and can sometimes compete against high-end Miele, Wolf, and Thermador packages. Then, Save Related Discussions 36″ bottom freezer Thermador vs Miele integrated refrigerator Kitchen Aid VS Jenn Air double wall ovens.
Miele’s pro ranges and steam ovens have M Touch controls, making them the simplest to use. Miele’s new G 7000 series dishwashers and compact laundry are the best in the industry.
Is KitchenAid a luxury brand?
Kitchenaid is not a luxury brand. Kitchenaid was founded in 1919 and had been improving its appliances ever since to get the best out of them. They offer high-quality products, but they are too expensive for most middle-class Americans making them less desirable to consumers on a tight budget.
Besides that, maybe even the all-gas range to save some money. I’m pretty much of the opinion that Sub Zero Wolf products are the only truly high-end product.
Have you considered Wolf brands? Maybe even the all-gas range to save some money. I’m pretty much of the opinion that Sub Zero Wolf products are the only truly high-end product.
Everything else is just overpriced junk. Thermador/Bosch dishwashers brands are great. Even their range tops and cooktops are good. Just the ranges seem to be really disappointing my customers.
Should have bought a sub-zero wolf (bought floor model; this is our 2nd Sub Zero wolf) or any other brand. This thing is a lemon, and going out of warranty soon.
For pro ranges, their dual fuel has the only dual convection where both fans operate independently. Wolf also features infrared for the grill and griddle for faster and more even heat.
I would likely get a dual fuel range. Given the current packages from Thermador (free hood and dishwasher with a range of a refrigerator), it seems to be a good deal.
As previously mentioned, KitchenAid refrigerators are highly regarded; among their more high-end features are split double drawer freezers (for optimal organization), multiple temperature zones, and touch-activated controls.
Why are KitchenAid appliances so expensive?
Kitchenaid’s products are primarily crafted in China. To build a superior product, many different parts are shipped worldwide to get their final assembly place, which makes it costly compared to other brands.
They also use quality materials at a higher price than other manufacturers but still only create average products at higher prices.
Although KitchenAid brands are best known for dishwasher and refrigeration, they make a full line of cooking products as well. Pros: The high-end Whirlpool brands, KitchenAid and Jenn-Air brands have recently made massive improvements to the aesthetics inside their counter-depth refrigerators.
Are Thermador appliances high-end kitchen?
For high end kitchen appliances, they should have better consumer service. Our high-end homeowners of course go to the brand’s everyone mentions above. Thermador is not a high-end brand, but they offer above-average quality products at relatively lower prices. Thermador offers you as much or sometimes even more than KitchenAid brands for a lot less money.
Thermador’s appliances are generally cheaper than comparable KitchenAid appliances, so if you are on a tight budget and looking for affordable kitchen appliances, Thermador is your best option for your kitchen.
Buy any other brand other than Thermador for refrigeration! Fortunately, we only purchased the under-counter double drawers but 2 motherboards have been replaced and it still is pinging 3 times every time the compressor goes on.
They are also not available in dual fuel options. Unlike the others, BlueStar is not a full line of kitchen appliances. Just cooking and refrigeration.
The Thermador and KitchenAid refrigerators are both top-selling models, but they have some key differences.
One of the most notable is that the Thermador has a freezer on top while the KitchenAid refrigerator doesn’t. If you need more information about these two best-sellers or any other model we offer, please contact us today! Very helpful!
